Bump for more opinions. I just missed the $200 5870 deal last night so am debating whether to go 6870 or wait for another 5870 deal.

6870. more upgradability and will give you better tessellation in games.

the 6870 scales very well in crossfire (as seen in charts above)

Well you cannot go wrong with either at those prices. However, I would get a 6870 just because it is newer.

The best deal going right now is the evga 465 SC, which is selling for like $165, and everyone that's bought one lately has reported that their's unlocks to a full 470 w/1280MB of vram

At this price there's no other card that can remotely compete. And 470's are THE BEST overclockers ever. Squeezing out an additional 20-25% performance via OC'ing is pretty much a guarantee, and the unlock process going from 465-->470 adds 25% performance as well.

Take a look at these results, and then consider what I've said above ... and remember that the 6870 is already clocked pretty close to it's max OC.

W/all cards at their max OC's, an unlocked 465 will edge out the 5870, and dominate a 6870. For $165, you can't go wrong, IMHO.

However, they are a little bit on the hot/loud side, so for your particular setup, you might be happier w/an ATI card. If it were me, looking at the above benching results, I'd go with the 5870 since it's like $15 more (if you include the gift card), and outperforms the 6870 very handily.
