Actually ME1 on PC is a port. The game was originally released for Xbox 360 in 2007 and with the help of Demiurge Studios (who do a lot of ports and other services for various companies), BioWare re-released the PC version in 2008. Despite it being made with the Unreal III engine it was originally intended for a console and from my understanding very little was changed between the console and PC versons (mainly inventory and combat mechanics).

Is there something wrong with my game?
I just started up ME on Steam and I had the same issue. The last time I played it the textures were fine but I think they patched it since then and it changed some of the config files and reset my graphics settings. Restarting the game seemed to fix the problem though. You can probably force some AA through your graphics control panel as well.

Here is what mine looks like after restarting:

If restarting doesn't work you can try to change the settings through the launcher instead of in game and see if that makes a difference. And if you want to edit them in a config manually I believe they are stored in Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect\\Config\\BioEngine.ini

the mass effects are ports, but they do look better on the PC because of advanced filtering and AA that is not on the cnnsoles.

something odd is going on with your PC, have you used the configuration tool outside of Mass effect, it has more options to set.
