thats not quite right. Frostbite was designed as a console engine. Then with 1.5 they ported it to the PC, and tweaked for the PC. version 2.0 is was developed on multiple platforms at the same time each with their own version of the engine. PC frostbite was developed for PCs and consoles were developed for the consoles.

This allows them to get the best quality out of all systems.

Indeed.

See: BFBC2.

Oh, and dropping XP? Most retarded move ever. Yes, I know all the Win7 fanboys will come screaming in to cheer that decision, but XP gives me acceptable frame rates in BC2, while 7 just explodes my CPU. Who knows why.

Had to go at some point. Now's as good a time as any, and just because you had a problem with 7 doesn't mean the rest of us did. Keeping legacy for legacy's sake is a bad idea - especially since graphics card manufacturers don't even properly support XP anymore.

I am glad for this. I am sick of straight console to PC ports ruining the fun.

But you should've googled.

It's a pretty common problem.

Doesn't mean BF3 will have those problems.

Well, I hate to say it but to expect EA to support a 10 year old OS is just retarded. People weren't crying for Windows 95 support in 2005. The expectation placed upon Microsoft to support XP at this point is insane given the fact that they have two iterations of the OS since then. Maybe if you filled in your sig rig, perhaps a bottleneck or issue could be identified.
