Oh, I said same feeling about Destructor & Sota means they are the same plastic granular texture surface, which SX is a flat surface.
Sorry about that.
I wipe my SX everyday with wet paper towel. Yes, it cuts my naga & ikari mouse feet pretty sharp. Of course it depends on personal preference. This is this reason why I brought Sota.
Weaing Plastic vs plastic would be last longer than aluminum vs plastic.
I use SX in summer around 25°C in where I live, Sota in winter average -10°C.
I'm happy with both pads.
BUT of course SX is more durable than Sota.
Sota issue #1
. I have noticed that after more than a year heavily BF:Bad Company 2, Arma2:OA, MW2, the surface I glide most (center of the pad) is getting less smooth. I can tell because those tiny little granular textures are flatten by the mouse feet. Again plastic vs plastic.
Sota issue #2
. One day after I wash my dishes in hot water, run back to the computer without dry my hands, hot water splash on Sota. I just wipe them off with my sleeves, didn't pay attention until next day. I see one corner of the pad bubble up a little. I think because of the hot water makes the thin film layer inside the pad expands. I've heard on the net before I buy, but not understand why.
Please keep this in mind, because the thin layer of film or the thin layer of the plastic.
It might not last longer than hard plastic & metal pad.
I want to take a picture of the bubble, but I don't think you can tell, but my wrist can feel it pops upward a little bit. It doesn't affect the aim, because it is in the corner. It's like a 1 mm high bubble wrist rest
You can tell "you get what you pay for".
Regarding to the SP
What a covincidence, I'm using SP with my logitech G3 gaming mouse in the office. It sounds louder because the bigger granular texture. It's surface doesn't wear a bit after these years usage, still very slick, mouse runs off the other corner of the pad just a little push from my index finger.
I don't suggest to buy anything more than 2 years old.
Expect you really love glass pad then Icemat is your perfect choice.
Since there is always a newer, better one tomorrow.
I was going to try Steelseries 4/9HD
, I've been waiting for sales since summer, but my next try would be Scarab for now.
Sorry for the grammar.
