Hi,

I just put up a system for my brother and now the monitor wont display anything. I cant even get in the bios.

EDIT : My bro's computer is fixed, the problem was the RAM stick that i put on the black slots instead of blue ... Now the same thing happens with the HTPC i build for my parents ... And changing the ram wont help :/
The specs :

core 2 duo E6300
P5LP-LE mobo
3x1GB DDR2
2TB Green
430W psu
HD5450

Well because there is no Video we will need to do some troubleshooting using the POST Beep Codes. Are you familiar with this?

If you are, what beeps (if any) did you get?

If you are not familiar with this troubleshooting technique, do you know if you installed the motherboard speaker?

If you just built the system, try connecting the 20pins of the PSU to the mobo, some mobos have trouble when all 24pins are connected

The 1st problem in the OP is fixed but now the HTPC for my parents wont post either and i have no idea what those beeps are :/

Hmm. Can you have them desribe the beeps? They are short and long with pauses. Let us know what they hear and we can tell you what they are.

not really sure ... but what i can tell u is that when i remove the HD5450 and use the VGA port on the mobo, the screen works. when i use a 8500GT and plug the screen on the VGA port on the graphics card, it displays. however when i use the HD5450, the screen is on power saving mode and wont display.

at first i thought the card was faulty but i put it in my sig rig to test it and the card works so i really dont know why this card wont work on my HTPC :/ ... the PSU is a Corsair 430W so it should be enough for a 5450 >.>

Hmm that sounds like a problem I recently had with an ATI as well!

VGA Selection was the culprit. Definitely examine the BIOS for a setting that sets the PCIe slot graphics card as the default.

Other than that, I'm stumped too.
