Should I be concerned? Should I get another drive (one that is at least quieter)?
Please post id string of drive within the enclosure -go to disk management or device manger click properties- details tab, then copy and paste
hardware id string into your post.
(PS: Would be nice if you'd post model id of external.)
Example drive I received today id strings:
Fantom Drives GreenDrive 1TB External eSATA/USB 2.0 Hard Drive (GD1000EU)
HITACHI Deskstar 7K1000.C HDS721010CLA332 (0F10383) 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5"
1: Backup data
2: Go to external drive site and see if they have any apps to *test drive with.
OR With ID string - find mfg of drive itself- download their testing app(s).
*Drive may have to be removed from external to test.
Download apps that run from a COLD boot to remove OS from equation. Do FULL tests- several times...
When that is done look at OS problems.Edited by WeAreNotAlone - 1/4/11 at 6:20pm
