9800gt sli issue

Thread Starter
ok, i have a 9800gt oc 512mb, and a 9800gt 1gb. i have tried the coolbits reg, and sli will work with or without it. i have clocked both cards the same. 555core 1375 shader and 900mem. sli is enabled and it don't matter if bridge is on or off i get the same results.

when i go into game, {black ops, MW2, grid, forged alliance} it dont matter if i set graphics to max or min, i get 50-65% gpu usage on both cards.

i am also dl'ing the beta drivers atm and will try them. it is the 266.35 beta.

cpu hits 50% in black ops, but that was normal even with one card. i have tried both cards one at a time as well and both will max out gpu in games separately.

any ideas?

Odd ram mixture. My guess......, but I'm not understanding what exactly your problem is?

Not all games support SLI.

P.S., just a pet peeve. "Doesn't = does not", while "don't = do not."

I am not sure if I understand you fully.
Are you saying SLI is enabled (as far as you can tell) but the GPUs usage does not go up near 100%?

Try: enable ''SLI Visual Indicator'' and run a few games.
Do you see the green bar moving up and down fairly well?

And, which two 9800GTs are they exactly?

Glad I was wasn't alone. I didn't understand any of that either.

for SLI to work you NEED the SLI bridge so leave it on
some games dont work with SLI try crysis demo or something before you do anything.
beta drivers usually cause more problems then anything(watch fan speeds)

ok i tried the beta drivers with a little more luck, i can hit 80% gpu usage on both gpu's.

as for cards
1 bfg 9800gt oc edition 512mb 112sp
2 pny 9800gt 1gb 112sp
sli is enabled and bridge is on.

only thing i have found that will run both gpu's at 100% is 3dmark vantage. 1 card at a time will score 5k points or just over, and both score 7124 points in sli. i have noticed some performance gain, but i cant seem to max them out in any game. black ops and grid support sli. i have been using msi afterburner to monitor everything on my second monitor.

also, the adding of coolbits into the reg with a value of 18 makes the 1gb card only use 512mb so they can sli together.
