2600K Waterblock setup? Is this possible?

Hey Everyone,

New to OCN but I have been reading for awhile. My last build was a C2D watercooled and I kinda skipped the Core I series but I'm ready to put together a new setup with a 2500/2600K.

My question is:

Will the heatkiller waterblock made for the 1156 work on the 1155? Is so, looking at the cores under the IHS, would it make sense to mount it horizontally (inlet and outlet horizontal) instead of a vertical setup?

1156 Core

1155 Core

I'm not sure if this is even possible. I apologize if this is a dumb question, been out of the loop for awhile.

Thanks,
My System

from what i've heard, socket 1156 cooling solutions will be compatible with 1155, but the processors will not

They keep the same mounting holes from 1156 and 1366

so, as far as waterblocks go, 1155=1156
But those are the holes in your motherboard for mounting the heatsink/waterblock, you can't stick a processor with 1156 pins into a socket that only has 1155

Yes, the mount system is the same for the lga 1156 and the 1155

Edit: Arrr too late

The dies are going the same direction, check the notches. The pictures are just rotated.
