Caviar Black vs Caviar Blue - Page 2

My 640 AAKS (BLUE) is faster than your 640 black:

But the fastest 7200 rpm 1tb hd is the samsung F3, here's one of mine:

The blacks are no faster than the blues, and I have 3 blues:

500 gig AAKS (in the e6400)
640 gig aaks x 2 (raid 0 with the q6600)

And the samsung F3's are faster than the wd's

F3 500 gig > 500 gig wd (per ocn results, I don't have a F3 500 gig)

F3 1TB > WD 1TB (per ocn results, I don't have a WD 1TB)

F3 1tb > WD 1TB <>= F3 500 gig > WD 640 gig (blue/black) > wd 500 gig (blue/black)

Your HDD's are pretty hot.

My max is 25c. Does it matter at all?

THG Review of the 500GB Blue. I don't like quoting THG but I have to agree that these HD's are surprisingly fast, faster than I thought they would be. I still think Black I have feels faster than the Blue and I've just had to RMA the blue, bringing the total of WD HD's I've RMA'd in the past few months to over 10.

WD are really beginning to piss me off so badly I'm looking at buying Hitachi's.

Would buying a WD1002FAEX be a bad idea then?
It seems like "top of the line"

It is good drive. We were talking about diff drives really. My 1tb black is faster than both my 500gb drives and it is the old version. the one you are looking at should be even faster.

I think the 1TB blacks have or did have a problem with raid 0 because WD wants you to pay more for enterprise drives?

And the Samsung F3's are faster than the WD Black 1TB

I've just purchased a caviar black wd1002faex. It makes some
screeching KRRRRRR noises when loading stuff. is this normal?
It also came with a scratch on the bottom (on the black round part)
