HP G7000 power-on password

Help! Can anybody out there help me with a power-on password. I bought a second-hand HP G7070EJ laptop and it wants a power-on password. All I can get is the code "11862332" after three tries. I have tried unlock6 but it doesn't seem to work with 8 character codes. Anybody had any luck breaking this code?

Thanks George

Welcome to OCN!

Are you able to contact the seller and ask for the code? In my experience there are 2 common reasons why the computer was sold with a power-on password:

1.) The seller forgot to remove it.
2.) The laptop is hot stolen.

If the seller forgot to remove it, he or she would probably be more than happy to assist you.

If all else fails:
Remove the battery and power, pull the CMOS battery that is located underneath the keyboard, purge the system of power, wait a couple minutes then see if that worked. If not repeat the same process but wait over night.
