Think of it this way, for the non gamer/bencher/pc enthusiast who just browses the web and gets on facebook or just watches movies or uses the pc for work, wouldnt need to oc the cpu for any reason let alone even know how to oc the cpu and even if they did the 5% gain would most likely be enough. So I dont see the big deal with the release of that version of sb.

Exactly. There really isn't a need to overclock them anyhow. It seems like a waste when the K CPUs get to past 4GHz for the enthusiasts.

Heck, I'm still thinking of getting an i3 2100 for a simple computer for my Dad.

Now if it were like $75-100 more... but hey at least its not like its $1000 anymore like the old "Extreme Edition" CPU's.
Only if retail pricing follows Intel's 1Ku pricing. Somehow, I don't think we'll get the i5-2500K for just $216 initially. I've actually allocated $250 in my budget for the i5-2500K to account for price gouging.

From what I've read, there's no such thing as RAM overclocking in SB. Since it's tied to the BCLK, you can't do much with it without screwing over the PCIe.

problem, dell enthusiast systems :/
they do overclock their processors and they just take their golden chips of their big batch they buy from intel

+ wholesale = cheaper

means that dell needs to buy 2 different ones :/
they are also screwed

You can adjust the memory multiplier in P67.
