there will be no such thing as a 6GB dimm.

you fail at binary.

My MSI board can support up to 32 according to the MSI site

Asus P8P67 says it can support: 4 x DIMM, Max. 32 GB, DDR3 2200(O.C.)*/2133(O.C.)/1866(O.C.)/1600/1333/1066 Non-ECC,Un-buffered. Does that mean IT CAN NOT SUPPORT EEC RAM or it will only ignore the ECC and handle them as non-ECC? I found 8GB dimms but only ECC KTH-PL313/8G (Kingston 8GB 1333MHz)

Apparently your reading skills fail...

First off the person you were quoting never said you would need four 8GB sticks to get 32GB...he just said it wasn't possible to do right now with only 4GB DIMMs and that you would need 8GB DIMMs to do it...

And secondly, the original question that was posted, nowhere did he say 8x4....he said 4x6GB sticks or 3x8GB sticks...both of which DO equal 24GB...however the poster below you correctly pointed out that there is no such thing as a 6GB DIMM and won't be.

But yes, some of the new mobos DO say they support up to 32GB on 4 DIMM slots which means that we should hopefully see 8GB DIMMs in the near future.

EDIT: I went looking and found a very select few 8GB DIMMs from Crucial...though they are only 1066 speed. I would think it would just be better to go with 4GB DIMMs and stick with 16GB of RAM across 4 slots. I don't see what the need is for 24GB....

I don't need this for desktop usage, but server usage. Yes, trust me, I need at least 24GB, my current server:
Code:
Mem: 24737300k total, 22720844k used, 2016456k free

I told you, I found 8GB DIMM @ 1333mhz (Kingston 8GB DDR3 1333MHz ECC Registered, KTH-PL313/8G) but people state that "registered" RAM won't work at all on this kind of motherboards
