No lens threads on camcorder what do I do?

Thread Starter
Ok i just got a new camcorder Its an Insignia ns-dv111080f its a great camcorder but there are no threads for attaching a lens. Does anybody know a trick i can do or an adapter i can use to put one on? I was thinking of getting an adapter ring and gluing it on the camcorder but only if theres no other way.

It's a fixed lens camcorder, it isn't meant to have a mounting option.

I wouldn't glue it on, it will probably vignette your image at wider angles.

those are not meant to attach lenses. it already has a lens that is permanently attached.

i hope noone told you that you could attach lenses tot it, some people at best buy are dumb

gluing an adapter ring will never work unless you have the hands of a surgeon and actually know what your doing otherwise when you try using another lens it will either vignette at wide angles or more than likely just completely fail and you will actually be able to see the attached lens both when zoomed out and in because it wont be perfectly attached

unfortunately noone makes decent video camcorders that have interchangeable lenses in that price range. the next higher level of prices would be a DSLR but honestly i dont suggest DSLR for video for anyone unless you are prepared to drop some serious money on equipment. the cheapest camcorder that can have interchangeable lenses is the new sony i think, which will run you ~$2000

What type of lens did you want? Raynox makes a clip on wide angle lenses that could work for it.

It's going to be difficult to try and glue a lens ring on there. You would have chop off the bottom part of one. Since the flash seems to be in the way.

Wrong.

http://www.letusdirect.com/cart/letus35-mini.html

Letus Mini + HV40 = $1100

@ OP,

Don't try and glue something on because it would be a shame if you messed things up. I would just try and return the camcorder or if having a proper lenses is really that important to you, save up for a new setup.

blankthis dude that is a joke and noone in their right mind would use it anyway lol. if your trying to produce at least semi professional work your going to use something better. and that is an adapter not an actual camera so unless you read my whole post you sir are wrong. i said camera not a cheapo with some clip on adapter. any camera can have a lens attached if you want it that bad hell iphones and flip cameras have lenses now but that doesnt mean its worth considering going out and buying

I have used it. With a decent camera (Like the HV40) the results are stunning, assuming you use decent glass.

Please use proper grammar when you criticize me, it makes you look unintelligent.

As to your comments, there is nothing cheap about that 35mm adapter, many professionals use it's bigger brother (Letus Extreme) with "professional" cameras like a Panasonic HVX. This allows them to use quality consumer glass for Nikon/Canon/Minolta/Pentax/Zeiss/Olympus/etc. which are generally cheaper, more abundant in ranges, and of similar quality.
