Vignette is when the corners are darkened or even cut like in your second picture there. Generally people don't like it but I don't mind the look if it's done in small amounts and tastefully.

other then ghetto rigging the lens infront of the camcorder, there really isnt going to be a way to attach a lens via filter threads to the front of that consumer camcorder.

if you are happy with the ducttape method it would probably be your best solution for the time being, but if you can it would be better if you just return the camcorder and pick up another camcorder or even a DSLR/SLT/EVIL which will allow you to attach a fisheye adapter or even a fisheye lens.

fyi, the quality looks a bit compromised.......i would really recommend return the camcorder and picking up soemthing else.

As to your comments, there is nothing cheap about that 35mm adapter, many professionals use it's bigger brother (Letus Extreme) with "professional" cameras like a Panasonic HVX. This allows them to use quality consumer glass for Nikon/Canon/Minolta/Pentax/Zeiss/Olympus/etc. which are generally cheaper, more abundant in ranges, and of similar quality.

i have not used the letus nor have i really heard about them, but 700usd is a significant amount for lens adapter.

for that amount OP could just change to a DSLR/EVIL/DSLT with a fisheye+kit lens.

The Letus is so expensive because most 35mm adapters have two flaws.

1. Major loss of light and/or distortion

2. They don't flip the image

then why use them lol. for that money a better camera will give you amazingly better footage.

why buy an expensive adapter to put a nice fisheye (also expensive) on a camera that is worth like $200. i just dont understand why you would waste a post suggesting it. thats just me though. i dont know anything about photography but when it comes to video i can tell you that buying an adapter for a fixed lens is dumb unless you plan on just capturing footage for fun and dont care about quality. yea most adapters are used for fisheye lenses for skateboarding videos and most of the time people dont have the money for a good camera to get the cool fisheye look. but suggesting as $700 adapter is like telling him to just go buy professional gear to get what he wants. if he is resorting to glue to mount a lens clearly he doesnt have the budget lol

im just pointing out that it would be more helpful for dskater if you read his posts lol

yea its a really good camcorder just thats only a 20$ fisheye (cheapest we could find) im not going to be using it for any type of buisness or anything just youtube videos and probably make a skate dvd. i can get a cheap 5$ adapter ring and glue that so i can take off the lens if i dont want it on and not see the ring.

If you want more help go to skateperception.com. I used to be a regular on that forum until I let my friend borrow my camcorder. Couldn't film much because I had just started college at the time.

There is a lot of ghetto rigging, but chances are they have done something similar to what you want to get done.
