Thread Starter
Hi
I have Intel Pentium 4 650 3400MHz Prescott-2M, i saw in this form and other the temps that ppl have is 35c up 70 and 80 which 80c is dangerous.
the temps on my cpu idle is 55c and with load 86c this is in winter time but in summer it reaches 92c , i have stoke fan but even so is it suppose to reach these temp?
the weird thing is that am using it on these temp for about four years now and still working fine, and am going to overclock it

Your temps do seem to be a little high. I would take off the heatsink and fan and cleen it and the cpu off and apply a fresh layer of thermal compound. If that doesn't help i would suggest getting a better cpu fan of a case fan. Intel says the max recommended temp is 66.6 C. DO Not overclock until you fix this. I had an old pentium 4 and it was really cool.

That's why your temps are high. 55c idle is too much. My 650 ran 40 c idle with almost broken heatsink&fan since I had it for 5 years also. I doubt you have the same temps when you overclocked

the max temp is 66.6 C no matter what. It should never reach that temp ever. If you want overclocking help send me a pm. I'm at 4.01 GHz and my max temps are 50C under full load.

You're using the Intel stock cooler?

a) You should not be overclocking on that cooler.
b) You should not be overclocking on that cooler.
c) You should not be overclocking on that cooler.

I could go on and on, but you should realise that the stock cooler was not built with OCing in mind.
