[dukio.com] PSP Master Key Found In PS3 - Page 3

Technically it is possible that sony could update the keys including the famous root key(metldr key) but even if they can do that and keep the old keys in a whitelist, it would mean the old keys would work to a certain level and its just a matter of finding a hole/exploit.

The psp master key is useful because custom firmwares can now be signed and don't require any exploit what so over

Now that the master key is out, it'll be possible to use custom firmware and still be able to use PSN, since it'll be signed in such a way that the system will think it's real.
[Edit: Unless Sony start using a call/response detection method like Microsoft did, but even then, the custom firmware will just be updated again to mimic the official firmware responses to bypass detection]

This would probably be a decent time to invest in Sony stocks. As much as I enjoy laughing at their fail, it was an Achilles Heel that brought the Playstation to it's knees - a very small weak point. In the PS4, I've no doubt Sony won't make the same mistake, and that'll lead to an even tougher console to break.
Right, I meant pirated games that can be played over PSN. I realize these guys had good intentions like making the PS3 be able to run Linux again but maybe making this thing public wasn't a good idea.

With this crack, PS3 and PSP are completely compromised and there is nothing Sony can do about it.
I could have swore I was reading a similar thread with a similar response and read a very similar reply of yours yesterday morning.

Is that a copy and paste by now for all these people whom don't understand?

I actually had a feeling something might turn up for the PSP as they are built to be peripherals for each other more than standalone consoles.

This settles it, I'm keeping my PS3 a little bit longer to see where this goes. No telling what people will come up with, hopefully a good media center app like XBMC.

Does this mean we'll be seeing a PS4 and/or PSP2 sooner?

the PSP could be completely compromised now but the PS3 still is partially compromised. With its firmware updates and hopefully updates on this flaw and most especially hard drive space limitations and bluray disc cost for piracy helps the PS3 stay under the radar in terms of piracy.

This issue cannot be alleviated with any software updates of any kind. Both the PSP and the PS3 are completely compromised and there isn't a damn thing Sony can do about it.

Does this mean apps like youtube on PSP will no longer require CFW!?
