There are dozens of PS3 cafes around in my city. Each has couple of PS3s all hardware modded, running pirate games (torrented PS3 DVD images burned to DVD-Rs). And they've been here for a very long time now. The owners even hang papers on the door saying that they can mod your PS3 for a price. (And yes no law is against it, this is a country where you can sell torrented Windows for a few $ on the streets and nobody cares about it.)

People have been playing pirated games on hacked PS3 for years here and this news means nothing to them.

Are these PS3 connected to the Internet?

What hack did they use? This hack will allow someone to load any piece of software on a PS3.
Once again...

It's either the PSJailbreak + Backup Launcher

Or BS and they use real games

I heard they mention chips or something. According to them inserting some kind of chip in PS3 allowing user to run a pirate game.

Bad but for us PC gamers this might be good news sort of. It has been the trend during the past years to release more games to consoles and making ****ty ports or releasing the games to PC months after; one of the reason is that game companies are fed up with how easy it is to hack games on the PC platform. If consoles are no longer considered as safe as they were, I hope that it will help reducing the gap between PC and console gaming.

I thought about that too but I think they'd rather rush a PS4 or PSP2 with better security perhaps? xD
