Help me stabalize my 4ghz--failed Intel Burn Test on 23rd pass

Thread Starter
i thought i was stable because i've only tested with prime95.
i've tried some ibt and now i've realized i'm not stable.
.___.

anyways, i did some overnight testing on maximum and it failed the test on the 23rd pass. (out of a total 25)

help me stabalize my OC, here are my settings:
bclk: 191
multi: 21 (turbo off)
vcore: 1.300
vdimm: 1.64
qpi/vtt: 1.31
ich core: 1.20
ioh core: 1.20
cpu pll: 1.80
ram timings: 8-8-8-20 (CR: 1)
all other settings are on automatic.

suggestions? thanks.

Sounds like you're really close, I would love to be in your position. You may want the advice of someone more reputable, but if it was me I would try two things, but try them independently: bump vcore a notch, and if that doesn't work try pll @ 1.88-1.9.

Aren't you supposed to lower pll to ~1.4?

Try this.
[edit] if you get stable with 1.35 at qpi/vtt, you could reduce it and test again to check how low it allows you to go.

For reference, as it stands now, my 950 takes almost 1.35 vcore to get over 4ghz. It also needs more than that on the vtt. That gets too hot my liking with my cooling. it starts pushing 90c under load after a few runs on prime or ibt,. I'm still tweaking though. I do run nice and cool (under 75) @ 3.8gHz (19X200) with a 1.22 vcore, 1.32 vtt and everything else on auto, so I'm still a little confused as to why i need such a bump for only a couple hundred more mHz., but i gues that's just the luck of the draw. Anyway, I'd try a vtt bump first.

thus far the only thing i have changed is cpu pll (1.8-->1.4). if it fails the test again i will raise vtt as suggested.

right now it has completed 8/25.

Up to 4.8 ghz, the only volts I need to mess with is vcore and vtt (except vdimm at recommended 1.65, all other volts locked at stock).

cpu pll is unlikely to make much difference at 4ghz, though reducing it may reduce heat a little. Only time I need above 1.8 cpu pll is when I get above 5ghz for benching.

If you do mess with pll, you may pass 25/25 just out of chance by running linx again since you made it 23 passes already, or you may fail earlier again by chance, but either way probably wont be any more or less stable.

I would leave pll in 1.6-1.8 range, and increase vcore 1-2 notches, and if that doesnt work then increase vtt 1-2 notches, as by far they are the most likely reasons for failing (assuming its not a ram issue.

"maximum" setting is very memory intensive. if it is failing on you in late passes it could be an issue with your memory or memory settings. IBT on "Maximum", rather than "Very High" is considered overkill by some. On max, you could run the test again, and without changing anything, have your system pass. I would also consider running LinX at 25000 prob size (maybe higher since you have 12 GB ram.) I have to concur with other sentiments expressed here that you are probably OK - if anything I would bump vdimm from 1.64 to 1.65.

Ouch . You were unlucky to get one from that batch.

I hold rock stable 4.0 at 1.23V. I'm at 1.33 now for 4.2 (this is all with HT on, of course).
