I'll be honest. I have no idea how you enable it on an AMD chipset, but i think it is probably the same as "write caching". It affected my 4k random speed vastly.

Are you sure you're in AHCI mode?

Edit: My vertex 1 for reference. Your vertex 2 is superior. Ignore sequential read/writes. 4k randoms and access time is by far more important for SSDs.

Yeah I'm sure I'm in AHCI. I wasn't when I installed W7, but I looked up a way to enable it in WIndows and then reboot and set it in the bios.

Sorry, i can't help you. I don't know much about SSDs.

I've just noticed that your 4k random write is 6 times faster than mine lol

What AHCI driver are you running? I don't know much about SSD's and AMD systems, but switching from the default W7 driver to the Intel RST driver made for MASSIVE gains with my Sandforce drive.
Finally an update

That's what i did. I had to do that to enable writeback cache.

How do I switch to the Intel driver? And are there any risks/downsides?

How did you enable writeback cache?

I don't even think you can on an AMD chipset. I could be wrong though.

You're correct.

You can't install Intel drivers on an AMD chipset.
