5770 vs 5870

Thread Starter
We all know that the 5870 out performs the 5770.

i myself own a 5770 and im thinking of getting a 5870. Besides FPS is there a difference in the graphics? my friend was running left for dead 2 on his gtx 570 and wow it looked way different even when i cranked my settings up all the way. i know his monitor is better but i want to know. if i get a 5870 if the actual graphics will improve not just the fps.

No, at max settings both cards will look the same, although you'll get a better frame rate with the 5870. This might cause you to think that it looks better because of the smoother picture. Monitors have a lot to do with it also, so thats probably why your friends looks better.

The graphics will change if you change them in the settings.

A new graphics card as far as I know will not effect the overall graphics quality of the game, but will allow you to use higher settings (unless you're already using the highest).

A new monitor may improve the look of the graphics...

I would not think there would be a great deal of difference between the 5870 and the 5770 in L4D2, as both cards would be running it in excess of 60fps.
It's not really the most demanding game out there.
I agree that your friends monitor may have more to do with what you saw than his GPU.

Don't get a 5870 in any case, get a 6870. It's marginally slower but a lot cheaper.
