Help me choose a P67 motherboard - Page 2

Thread Starter
So there are basically 2x SATA 6Gb and 4x SATA 3Gb controlled by the P67 controller and 2 extra SATA 6Gb controlled by an added Marvell one?

I am going to get 1 Crucial C300 128GB which uses SATA 6Gb and 1 Samsung F3 1TB. So I just need to plug the SSD and HDD to the Intel controller?

Btw, is the Samsung HDD SATA 6 or 3?

Yes. Most third-party controllers don't perform as well as the motherboard ICH.

What I usually do to speed up booting times is disable anything that I'm not using. So if you're not using the Marvell controller, disable it. The same goes if you don't use firewire, PCI slots (if applicable), and secondary NIC (if applicable).

As far as I know, all HDD's are completely fine on SATA3gb. Even a majority of SSD's see almost no benefit from SATA6gb. The only exception to that is the C300, which apparently DOES get significantly better speeds on SATA6gb.
