Help with first time wc project?

Hi.

So when I built the system in my sig I had always planned to water cool it, but I kinda chickened out and didn't want to void warranties etc.. But now that's it's a few years old it seems like a perfect time. I want to wait for sandy bridge to come out before I build a new system and I want to lose my water cooling virginity before trying this on new expensive parts.

So really I'm looking for suggestions on how to approach this with my current configuration, recommended parts or kit, what case mods, if any, I'll need to make. I'd like to get blocks for the cpu and gpu. Thx

THE XSPC Kit you can use as i belive the rasa will fit 775/1155/1156/1336

So loads of compatablity opctions which will do you good when you upgrade to sandy bridge,

In the area of case mods what case have you got ?

I seriousely wouldnt bother cooling the GPU as its a poor card but if you realy want to id go for the opction of the Swiftec universal block

for coolent, De-iornised water and silver Coil as advised by everyone on the forum

Yeah, the card replaced the 8800 gts that died. I didn't want to get anything too fancy. I'll probably leave that out of the loop if you don't think there would be much benefit. The case is the Coolermaster 830 stacker. Here's a link to it

I would just do a cpu loop get your feet wet then when you upgrade to SB ofc your going to want a new card otherwise your bottlenecking the cpu and at that point add a gpu block

That sounds good. I'm hoping this project and overclock will help me wait a few months for sb to come out. But that's probably going to be a whole new build with a new board, case, etc..

If doing custom: sapphire Enzo block, dual or triple swiftech res rad. Mcp655 and 1/2 tube/ barbs. Kill coil and distilled water. Fans go for the r4's or if you got the cash do the typhoons. It's the best price to performance ratio around and is a very compact design with upgradability.

Thx... will take a look at this stuff. Not too worried about upgradeability. The kit would probably be easier to work with though, huh? Although will that matter if I have to mod the case anyway?

Ok, about to pull the trigger on the Rasa kit. Adding some KillCoils, Arctic Silver V and some Arcticlean. Anything else I need?

i wouldnt use arctic silver 5, id go with a newer tim. maybe noctua(my personal fav), or shin etsu. i heard mx3 is good too. but as5 is by no means the best tim out there, and if you are going to be spending 10 bucks on tim might as well get one that works better.

btw, the rasa kit is great. and alot of fun to install.

edit: also, depending on your setup, there is going to be lots of leftover screws and bolts and what not. the instructions that come with that kit are garbage as it only tells you how to install the water block. the rest you kind of have to figure out on your own. took me a while to finalize my setupd i was up till 430am installing mine. pm me if you have any questions about anything. i can tell you my setup and what not.

also do yourself a favor, google: rasa 750 install video. watch as many videos as you can before you install. also be gental with the pump/res as it is acrylic. its very easy to strip threads in acrylic so dont over tighten anything, but at the same time make sure a good seal is formed.

1 more thing, rinse your radiator with distilled water a few times before installing it, then let it dry.
