True, but that's another reason to abandon micro USB and aim for mini USB.

They'll just include a 30pin connector to microUSB adapter that can only be used for charging. They're not going to ditch the 30pin connector anytime soon

True. However, a lot more manufacturers use micro-USB than use Apple.

True. This was published in June, 2009.
I would also like to stress that this is no kind of law, merely a guideline.

A self-adopted standard is different though.

Plus Micro USB sucks, miniUSB is more common and better.
This too is a self-adopted standard as stated by Vice-President of the Commission Günter Verheugen: "I am also very pleased that this solution was found on the basis of self-regulation. As a result, the Commission does not consider it necessary to introduce legislation."

I have a bunch of them and i keep them everywhere as my:

-camera
-dslr (use a card reader usually though)
-phone
-psp

all use mini-b.
Yes mini-b FTW!
I have loads of stuff with a mini-b connector. No matter where you are, if you search a bit you will always find a mini-b cable!

If your friend comes over and needs a charging cable you're more likely to have standard cables. If your forget your cable while traveling, you can easily find micro/mini USB anywhere. Not so for proprietary. This has happened to me at least twice and if I was an apple user for example, I'd be out of luck.
