My new rig is running, x3 740 BE->x4 40, the machine is so quiet, HDD is too loud

I put my new sig rig together today, I installed Win7 x64, some asus stuff, bunch off everyday programs...

Then I turned off 'cool n' quiet' and enabled core unlocker, and restarted and checked CPU-Z, and it says 3010MHz x4 40, with 6MB L3 cache, I haven't done anything stressful yet though.

The Seasonic 520W and the CM TX3 are super quiet so far, too the point that the WD 640MB 6GB/s is way too loud, as many reviewers said. I actually like stable fan sounds of a certain level, so once I get some side panels/new case with fans, the HDD won't be annoying I hope.

Now I have to mess with the RAM, as CPU-Z lists it as 9-9-9-24 and 33

Wish me luck

What do you mean? What sort of noize is the HDD making?

Have you made sure that the hardrve is fully secured in the case? "As in all 4 screws in place?"

Well now I set the DRAM to 1600MHz from auto, the voltage was around ~1.36 (the eco are listed as 1.35V)

I set 7-8-7, and then CPU-Z says DRAM is still a low 803MHz , the FSBRAM is 1:4 and the rest is 7-8-7-24 and now 40, so I don't know if that's good or bad, why is the DRAM freq only 803MHz, shouldn't that be ~1600, but then again I'm a near noob

the clicking/knocking sounds of the HDD are pretty loud as far as HDDs I've ever heard.

I don't have side panels on the case, but when I used that case before, the old matxor 320MB IDE was very quiet, and the various fans were louder.

Now under load, my 5670 is still the loudest thing I own, and it is too loud at full fan speed.

If CPU-Z says 803, your RAM is running @ 1606MHz, so dont worry about.
I dont know about your HDD, might be bad. I used WD and were pretty quiet.
If you want a silent one ---> SSD

So far doing average win7 stuff, the rig didn't seem much different from my old P4 640 3.2GHz

But I just un 7z-ed a DVD9 sized file, and it was way quicker, I don't know by how much, but alot for sure.
