STALKER: SoC... WTH?! Don't die on me!

First, I can't believe I haven't played this game until now (got the pack from Steam during holidays for 5 bucks).

2nd. WHAT THE HELL SKULL?!

So this guy tells me to go kill a sniper up this hill. He radios for me to come back after I kill the sniper. So i do. When i go back... he's dead. Layed out on the ground from being shot by the same sniper I killed... yet he radio'd me.

BAH! Now what?!

So I went and killed this bloodsuckign monster and a couple other quests... I guess I'll just go back to the the base I raped and go in the underground tunnel....

Its a common glitch the only thing you can do it load an old save before hes dead and leave the area and come back before attempting the mission again, I've encountered his glitch quite a few times.

Zone probably got 'em.

Happens a lot in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series.

Such is life in the Zone...

You can always try some modifications that solve many of these glitches like Stalker Complete, and if you don't want all the graphics/gameplay changes that come with it you can instead try ZRP, which is a massive collection of bug fixes.

That's pretty nifty! I'll look into that!

Does that mission effect the main story? If not you can probably just go about your business, people succumb to the zone all the time, its the way it goes.

i downloaded STALKER complete a while ago and i think it is more buggy that ever. i never had a crash in stalker or any glitches like the one this threads about.... the graphics change is awesome but bugs werent fixed :/

My advice is to go back to before you started this quest (you did get the memo to manually make lots of saves in this game, right?), and DON'T do it. It's best to stay neutral and not take sides between Duty (Skull) and Freedom (the sniper). There's enough enemies in the Zone w/o making more of them.

IMHO, the best thing to do regarding this quest is to just talk to Skull, NOT shoot the sniper, and then go into the Freedom Base there and tell the Freedom leader about this gang of Duty guys you discovered. Then just GO ALONG with the Freedom guys to fight the Duty guys, but don't shoot anyone yourself. Just let 'em kill each other (Duty will almost always win). You can get lots of free weapons and ammo off the corpses, and you'll stay friends w/both sides.

Before you actually talk to Skull, though, go straight up into the Base and talk to the Freedom dude standing in front of a fire pit w/a bunch of dudes sitting around him (cross the bridge then hang a right) ... he has a mission or two for you ... but he goes along in the raid on Duty and will almost certainly die, so you'll miss his missions if you try to do that first.

I'm jellie that you get to play SoC for the first time ... how'd you like the underground labs x-18 and x-16, did you do those already?

And make sure you explore the Army Warehouses to find the Vintar BC gun ... my fave weapon in any game ever. There's ammo in a box in the ceiling right above it, but you have to be a little creative to acquire it

I'm really not sure... I suppose it wouldn't considering you can stay neutral, though I'm sure it effects the ending you receive since there's multiple endings....

I had a lot of issues with audio/video syncing, but forcing it to play through DX9 has solved that issue. Other than it stopping to load more of an area every once in a while, it seems pretty smooth.

Yeah, this game is insanely fun and Ic an't believe I never played it before. I haven't gone to the lab yet. I'm debating on whether to go find the mobile lab to get a special suit (I found a special suit by one of the roads out of the Bar area, but it doesn't seem to protect against MASSIVE radiation.) Or should I got to the underground labs and own some faces? Or go to Freedom's warehouse and raid it.... hmmm...

Theres a gun used in the Arena... I fought 6 guys...and this thin 1-2 shot killed them...don't remember what it was... is this the same gun? If so... I WANT IT!

All I know is that whatever the hell attacked me in the Strelok tunnel scared the $#@% out of me! And bloodsuckers... those things...turning invisible... BAH!

Are there any othe rplaces to sell weapons and ammo other than the Bar and the guy at the very beginning?

I only ask because I think I'm about to get screwed. I've gone and done a few missions, never really taking sides (Freedom or Duty)... Anyway, I get back to the Duty outpost, and everyone is running around scared, guns out...there's dead people in the street.... some of the bodies have been thrown into fire pits... It's creepy.

So if I can buy and sell ammo/weapons elsewhere, I would like to do that. I'll be going to the Labs tonight, and probably the mobile lab in Yantar as well...

Bloodsuckers... godamn bloodsuckers are everywhere now....
