GTX 580 SLI vs Radeon 6970 Crossfire? - Page 2

I'm running 6950 Flashed in CF and will push it through a 30" monitor.

Diminishing returns in performance vs cost sets in for 580 SLI, but if I could swing $1,000 for them; I would.

IMO, 6950CF or 6970CF is just plain awesome. I have no problems with CF. Been with ATI/AMD for a decade, but having a new driver every month is ridiculous.

I'm on 10.12a-3884568-03775936 to 100x driver right now.

570 SLI would be my pick if did it again.

↑ This is not a terrible suggestion if money is of any concern to you. Personally I do not pay for my own computer equipment or I rarely do so I am not good at "advice on a budget."

I have 2!"......even on youtube, ive seen benches ran on metro 2033 with the 580s in SLI on a 24 inch monitor and the dude was pulling 55-65 fps the whole time, with minor dips in fram rate here and there, but only for a mere second or two.....is 2 GTX 580s overkill? you bet your badonkadonk it is!!!!! Do i truly need it? Heck no! But in today's world, where status is literally EVERYTHING, having 2 high end cards is a must, especially if youre a guy, we like to go overboard and flaunt and puff our chest out and say, "HA HA HA!!! I GOT THIS AND YOU DONT!", its human nature.....just like when you see someone driving down the street in a brand spanking new ferrari or lamborghini, do they need that car? Do they race professionally?.....NO!!!! But yet again, the E-PEEN troll wins again! He's a brain ninja!lol.
You are a Fantastic Human Being

+1 rep for just being awesome!

I wanna upgrade to either 2 GTX 580s in SLI or 2 6970s in crossfire.....which scales better, has the better drivers and will pull the best and most overall FPS in games? I know the GTX 580 is the fastest card on the planet but the 6970 crossfire vs. the GTX 580 SLI is darn close, just a few FPS in practically all games! Ill be saving a load of money if i go with the 6970s but then again that little e-peen demon keeps whispering in the back of my mind, "GET THE GTX 580!!!)" lol. How much has CFX scaling improved and how does it compare to SLI? And is the few FPS boost with the 580 worth the extra cash? What should i get?
For the bolded part above, GTX580 SLI is a little better in all 3 areas.
And then, the e-peen factor also favours GTX580 SLI a little.
Finally, as the OP said that money is not a concern, go for the bigger overkill of the pair (ie GTX580 SLI).

You can always use SLI AA in games that aren't very demanding and in DX11 all these people who tell you it is overkill will be gaming with 40FPS, while you sit at 70-80.
No it's not...

I have not had one issue with my Crossfire setup that I have been running since the 10.3's...

So don't go saying that CFX is a bugged tech.

Here is the link shown some numbers between gtx580 sli and 6950cf. 6970 is about 5% to 6% better than 6950 so GTX 580 sli is still better.

You know I really like to play New Vegas in windowed mode, how about you? Oh wait CFX doesn't work in windowed?

I like to play a game without any freezing, oh wait CFX doesn't do that.

Not to bring this fanboy-fest off its tracks, but why do you prefer to play in windowed mode? I'm rather curious.
