Upgrading to Phenom II X6 in 10 months

Thread Starter
Hi everyone, I haven´t finished my current rig and I´m already thinking about upgrading. My question is, Do you think that upgrading to a phenom II x6 will be a good idea after sandy bridge and bulldozer are released? BTW, I have an unlocked Phenom II x2 550. I know that prices will drop after bulldozer is released, but I don´t know if the performance gain will be noticeable. I´ll use my computer to browse the web, create microsoft office documents and gaming.

Fill out the specs of your rig... I would wait to think about upgrading until bulldozers come out.

Not a good idea, when better tech and then the refresh would be around that time.

x6 really probably won't benefit your tasks.
x4 maybe, but you could just unlock (depending on if your motherboard is reliable enough)
With Bulldozer coming out in 4 months (and it WILL have a 4-core or 6-core version) I don't see why you should go Phenom II anymore.
