That's because clock-for-clock they are faster. All reviews published so far are tremendously flawed. You'll understand once the chips hit mainstream. Two quick examples are not comparing chips clock for clock and enticing people with unsustainable overclocks to demonstrate the "superiority" of SB over current generation of chips.
While there is certainly always more info to be considered at this point in time, Intel seems to have released that the max safe voltage for SB is 1.52V. That actually makes a good number of the 5GHz OC's very sustainable. Not all of the reviews are just screenshots of a 5GHz+ 2600k beating a stock i7-950. There have been quite a few well done reviews putting the performance clock for clock to be pretty similar to the i7-950. Both systems have fantastic performance.
