I once got laid off during a summer and I wanted to buy an LCD so much that I ended up in a fish packing factory packing squid. we were in some way forced work for 6-10 hours w/o even lunch or a 10 minute break. we once worked 15 hours with one lunch and 1 10 minute break got out of work and got called to work again 3 hours after to work for 10 hours more.

I was there becasuse I wanted something really bad and quite twice. But for some people that was their only option they had to get money to their house. Though it got better for the workers after I quit and threatened them to have someone inspect the working conditions then they begged me to come back and gave me a pretty easy thing to do so I came back. After a few days I quit again due to getting lunch after like 7 hours again.

I'm glad I was there only for like 3 weeks because ppl still work there and get robbed some people don't get paid in weeks or get paid less than they should.

I'ts just the way life is you can't really take in mind that because it's almost impossible to o something about it.

I see. Hmm....You're right. It's hard to avoid. I saw a video of a Gigabyte factory once, and it looked pretty rough too...

Whatever floats your boat. Personally I'd just buy a ton of mITX boards. I mean, Intel Atom w/ ION2 isn't bad. I mean, the target audience you're looking for aren't going to be doing any gaming...

You could use it as a selling point that you don't use blood money foxconn motherboards. Anyone who buys locally is probably doing so to support local business anyway, if they weren't they would just order from dell or buy some pos at wal mart for less money.

You won't be able to compete with Dell etc. on price because of the amount of volume they are able to buy and you can't. If you wan't to be successful build something BETTER in every way including morally.

Well they have to be cheap to make and cheap to sell. But, it's true, I personally don't feel too great selling something that has caused other people tears and bloodshed.

No, of course not. But it's more of a question of our company's moral standards. I don't care if its a Foxconn or a ASUS. Both are capable of making excellent boards. It's more of a question of "Do we want to be selling something we know is messed up?"

Buy Foxconn. Then more Chinese will get jobs, then as people have more choices for work they will demand better wages and conditions. Its the progression of globalization. Eventually India and China will become developed and we will move factories to another 3rd world country.
