I myself have a standard dvd burner which is a liteon, its not anything spectacular, but it gets the job done. Newegg has an ASUS dvd burner for 20 bucks which is also their highest rated one, but it really doesn't matter.

Also, if you going from the i7-950 setup you are going to want the i7-2600k which is supposed to be retailing for $317. Don't get the normal 2600 if you are planning to overclock.

After reading a few of the comment I might go for the i5 2500k which sounds alright and is reasonably priced from what I've heard. Could I overclock that ok or not?

If it ends with a K then you can overclock it (if it doesn't Intel is laughing at you). If you don't care for the HT then yeah, the 2500k is awesome, get it while you can.

Thanks I will invest in the 2500k in that case. Also I've never overclocked before but know what it is etc. Just wondering is it a difficult process?

Until you get to heavy advanced stages, its just trial and error. But with the new SB chips you should hit at least 4.5 no problem.

as everyone is sayin, go SB. 2500K is wayyy enough for gaming, 2600K if you're doing video encoding/editing or other thread heavy programs. There are a couple threads around here for pricing on all the related hardware, the one linked below has motherboards/prices in the very bottom of the first post

Just out of interest is there any other places I could've improved on?
