[FDN] Microsoft confirms new Windows zero-day bug

Microsoft has confirmed an unpatched vulnerability in Windows just hours after a hacking toolkit published an exploit for the bug.

A patch is under construction, but Microsoft does not plan to issue an emergency, or 'out-of-band', update to fix the flaw.

Nothing new from Microsoft but i cant see why they wouldnt make the update emergency? Surely they would if its venerable and there is already people abusing it..?

Not a repost, but I read about this a few days ago. People should note that:

Quote:
Microsoft acknowledged the bug in a security advisory, and said Windows XP, Vista, Server 2003 and Server 2008 were vulnerable. The newest operating systems, Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2, were not.

Don't care unless it affects windows 7.
If hackers wanna try to hack into our old school computers, they can hack their butt off for all I care.

But I will be laughing at my friend if he gets hacked.

Maybe the exploit isn't very easy?

I imagine that for every bug that goes published, there are hundreds of equally-easy ways to get into the OS that go un-spoken. Pure speculation, of course.
