- Replaced stock Corsair H60 fan with an AP-15 and put a Red LED Yate Loon 120mm on the front of the radiator.
- I did put a Corsair AX850 PSU in but had to send it back as it had very loud cap whine at load.

Bitfenix also sells sleeved cables, so it could be those as well. Based on the heatshrinks though I'd wager they're Modright cables

Does anyone use the top exhaust fan as an intake? My temperatures are decent right now, but poking around on forums and reviews, like the Anandtech review, they said the 650d's weak point was the fan orientation.

"The Obsidian 650D, in comparison, seems almost schizophrenic. Air is brought in through the front 200mm intake, and then hopefully routed up and split through the rear 120mm exhaust and the top 200mm exhaust. Tower coolers in the standard orientation like the one on our testbed are seeing air flow through them oddly, and some of that air is likely just going straight out of the top before it even touches the cooler's fins. What's worse is that Corsair's design offers you virtually no way to improve the cooling: you can change out the 200mm exhaust at the top for two 120mm or 140mm fans, but it doesn't change the fact that you're exhausting more air than you're bringing in. Really what we need to see are more designs that channel air straight through the tower cooler on the processor."

Anyone have links to where to get the top intake filter?

I have an H100 on top set for exhaust and it seems to have had a positive effect on my temps compared to having it set for intake (no real surprise since when I had it set for intake, it was blowing hot air straight on my GPU's PCB tongue.gif)

Ive got 2 120mm silent fans as intakes"{
post #1480 of 4826
Thanks,

Just a question though. That mesh seems pretty fine and looks like it's going to get clogged with dust fairly quickly and I don't know if I'm going to clean it often so would that be counter intuitive?

If say I reverse the top 200mm fan from exhaust to intake and I get temperatures of 5c cooler but in a couple weeks, the filter gets stuffed with dust and I don't clean it, would I get worse airflow than with the top 200mm as exhaust? Meaning if I am a lazy person that doesn't like to clean filters, I'm better off leaving the top 200mm fan as an exhaust? Or would I still benefit from having the top as intake and even with the filter clogged, it would still provide better airflow than with the top 200mm as exhaust.
