Corsair Obsidian 650D Mid-Tower - Page 19

I might just have to retire the old Antec 900 in favor of this bad boy.... I have been eying the 800d for quite a while now, but I just couldn't justify the purchase without having a SLI/Crossfire/Water Cooling setup. I love the clean minimalistic design to the D series, and the size is perfect for me... hmm what to do what to do

The Arc Midi is nice but it's not really in the same class as the 650D based on size and materials.

It does have a very nice, clean look though.

And that's why I'm considering it, purely aesthetical reasons. I'd really rather not pay $200 for a case, but I plan to keep it quite a while, so I can justify it. I also expect a decent cooling ability (which is why the 600T is out). rv02 is ugly, not crazy about the HAFs and ft02 too big and expensive. So here I am. Another dark horse is the Shinobi. Very nice price and similar looks.

I just saw the Shinobi case on the BitFenix site yesterday - outstanding ID on the outside. Very clean. The inside is lacking in a lot of features, though.

Feature set is similar to like an Antec 300 or Cooler Master Elite series. But the Shinobi looks a lot cleaner on the outside.

I'm getting one as soon as I see it on stock @ Amazon (free shipping FTW).

$200 for a superb case that will last you a couple of years if not more seems like a good deal to me.

lol no.

Hey, CorsairGeorge, why is it exactly that Corsair uses steel instead of aluminum? I haven't been able to understand this, really. God knows I love my 800D, but I'd probably love it more if I didn't have to kill myself to move it.

Couple of reasons. Primarily:

1) Aluminum costs a lot more and doesn't offer any benefit except weight savings.

2) If you want a black interior with aluminum you have to anodize it, which is expensive and has a poor yield rate. You can powder coat or paint it, but if you're going to do that you might as well use steel.

Fractal Design Arc has cable management, tons of hdd space, black interior etc. etc.

YET ITS CHEAPER.

heres a nice pic of it with components

BS. Aluminum is easier to cut so therefore its more modder friendly.

Oh and btw, if a case from LL is anodized and doesn't meet quality standards, it WON'T SHIP. So theres no reason why buying a anodized case is bad.
