Hey guys, my first time on overclock.net. I have seen a lot of great rigs here so I thought I come and "show off" my own and ask you guys for some tips.

First of all here is my 650D. I have had it for about 2 weeks now and I am really liking it. I took all the components from my old HP Pavilion m9190 and built it in here. I did update a few things e.g. CPU cooler (runs 20 degrees cooler now, even on 100% load), SSD, RAM and PSU. This is not quite what I want it to look like but it'll do for now, until I update to Ivy Bridge and either Z68 or Z77 motherboard. I also want a new GPU but that will have to wait until after the CPU update.

Also, cable management is not what I want it to look like but again, it will do for now.

So, a few questions for you guys.

- Which brand sleeved extension cables would you guys recommend? I heard that bitfenix has good ones; they are not too tight.
- I wanted to replace the motherboard (24 pin), CPU, GPU and sata power, but can I also get sleeved data cables? (hope that makes sense)
- The corsair fans make quite bit of noise with the current fan controller (the updated one). I wanted to get a new one, something like Kaze Master but I am not quite sure. What would you recommend? I am looking for something simple that can control up to 4 fans.

And one noob questions...
- What does a fan grill do?

EDIT: I had these photos saved on my PC and they are kind of outdated. I now have the 120mm fan in the back positioned between the hard drive cage and the bottom of the 5.25" cage. It blows a good amount of air directly onto the GPU and into the case, which runs only 5 degrees cooler. Still good imo.

I removed the 200mm in the front because it makes too much noise. Like I said the updated fan controller is not really good.

I am using the 200mm fan in the top because it is connected to one of the fan headers on my motherboard, which allows it to spin at about 550 rpm, thus making little noise.

My motherboard only has 1 fan header. So here is the situation.
- 200mm fan in the top is connected to the fan header (about 550 rpm)
- 120mm fan in the front is connected to the CPU fan header (about 1050 rpm)
- 120mm fan on the CPU cooler is connected to the fan controller

The reason why I did this is because my motherboard wouldn't allow the system to boot with the CPU fan connected to the CPU fan header; it was spinning at a low rpm. Neither could I disable that feature in the bios (stupid OEMs). So I had to be a little creative with the fans there...

I can confirm that it has been "fixed". I said "fixed" because it's not fixed completely, the buzzing is still there, just not as loud as before. The new fan controller will lower the rpm on all settings thus partially fixing the issue.

Flunkyturtle, just contact them and let them know you are having this issue. You will receive a coupon code which you can use on their website to order a new fan controller.

Mine arrived in about 3 days. They were very quick with processing and shipping it!

I'm not sure what the issue was, but I just got my case a few weeks ago. I am using the fan controller on my 2 x 200mm fans and it works great.

Any of you guys have a particular 3.5" to 5.25" adapter you like to put HDD's up in the drive bay area?

It made a very annoying buzzing noise at low and medium settings. It was fine a high though. You probably have an updated one.

Scythe Disk Stabilizer 2 will work, I have seen some people use it e.g. this guy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxxvBqDGs-k (he also has his rig here in the thread).

I am planning on getting one myself.

This adapter I personally use. I don't actually put any HDDs in it, however it looks like it would work great. Matches interior, fits well, and good airflow to the drives. Check my pics it installed.

New fan setup.

2aaaq1i.jpg

I am actually working on a little device that will allow me to attach a 200mm fan underneath the 5.25" drive cage. Once I move the HDD and SSD into 5.25" bays, there will be more space to work in.

For now, this is good and temps seem to be slightly lower than in my previous setup. Though this setup is a little noisier too.
