Hey guys, would love to get some comments from you. Here is a mod I have been working on, well on paper at least. This is where I want my 650D to be before I upgrade to Ivy Bridge in June/July.
I already figured out how I want to close that gap in the top after I remove the hot swap bay. And the same for the side window, I kind of have something in mind to make it look like the side window on the 800D. I kind of like this shape but I might change it later.
The only thing I need to figure out is how to open en close the side panels. But once I get started, I am sure I will come up with something.
Everything is basically on paper, I hope it works out the way I have planned.
EDIT: I might also paint the top completely white, though I am not sure yet. Same for the front panel, I haven't decided what to do. When I am done paining the body, I'll see whether brushed aluminum looks good with white or I should go for glossy black or some other color. Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Just in case you haven't seen this post on the Corsair forums. Very smexy white 650D.thumb.gif

That does look nice, but IDK about the front...everything but the front for me

I thought it looked great. thumb.gif

So I'm going to finally move my rig into my 650D tonight. biggrin.gif I'm going to try the rubber band trick Sean posted here for the HDDs. If that doesn't work out I wanted to try the Scythe Hard Disk Stabilizer II. Can anyone who owns these comment on the difference in noise vs using the stock HDD cages? I have two WD Caviar Blacks and would like to keep 'em as quiet as possible. biggrin.gif

EDIT: I might try this method as well. thumb.gif

Oh you may want to look at this too: http://www.overclock.net/t/286830/info-how-to-silence-any-hdd-for-1

And the rubber bands do well to prevent the subtle movement, but suspending the drives would be much better.
I'm really hoping the initial noise isn't anything that would bother me. After moving the HDD cage back to the middle position in front of the PSU area I became concerned with vibration noise vs my old K62 that has nice rubber mounts for the HDDs. The thin metal of the 650D HDD cage doesn't seem like it will help. frown.gif I haven't noticed much complaining about HDD noise in this thread so I'll take that as a good sign for now. biggrin.gif

So...there's a couple people with those Scythe stabilizers right? I'd love to hear your comments. thumb.gif

Lol, I know I sound a little odd caring this much about something that will more than likely be a non-issue. biggrin.gif I'm guessing your GPU and fans are what you hear most? In my last case (which my rig is still in at this point, still at work) all I heard was the air blowing through the case. I'll be running fewer fans this time with the 200mm fan replacing the two 140mm fans from before. smile.gif Just want to know how the other options perform in case the initial noise does bother me.

I've never heard my HDD's vibrate and my computer is watercooled with the fans/pump as low as possible.

Pffft, no one has their case next to their face like I do...tongue.gif

Lol, I may use a different stand/table/thing that would elevate my rig higher than it was before so that's the main reason I'm looking into noise-related issues before I build. thumb.gif
