It may sound stupid, but the 120mm I have can just sit in there against one side, not fall over, and takes in plenty of air thumb.gif I will take some pics if you want tongue.gif

Please do! If all I need to do is buy a fan then that would be perfect since I don't need the extra HDD bays.

400

it's just sitting there coolsmiley02.gif

I took a utility knife, heated it up, and pushed it against the plastic. Went back and forth a few times and it went through.

don't hate me, but I did the same thing, great idea! biggrin.gif

note: be careful not to bend the mesh because once you remove the plastic cross braces it can easily bend and has nothing to keep it flat thumb.gif

Absolutely not mate! I encourage people to do this. Some photos please! You got an awesome camera. Would love to see it in your case.

EDIT: indeed, once you remove it, it bends easily. But once you put it back in the mesh, it's okay.

Oh wow. Such a subtle thing that I haven't even seen people even mention taking the plastic grill out of the dust filter. Also, it might make the LEDs look better on the front. I can't think of any negative side-effects of removing it as long as there are tabs to hold it in place. Maybe the fan might suck the mesh out and bend it or something? Does it work well?

It's fine, the mesh is actually pretty sturdy. Once you put the plastic back in its place and push the little tabs in, the dust filter sits there without moving around.

I happened to order a set of 600T mesh 5.25" covers, removed the normal holders and tac welded the 3 pieces of aluminum together, then slid it in my bays without a hitch thumb.gif

I know some people have gotten another mesh dust filter and cut it/bent it, too messy for me.
