Corsair Obsidian 650D Mid-Tower - Page 29

Now that I've had a chance to play with the Fractal Design Define R3, I must say the front of this case looks like it FEELS much better. The Define's front end's plastic.

If you want to do it yourself, you could probably do a pretty decent job with a sheet of modders mesh and some tin snips.
Yeah, it would be great if you guys could provide the mesh inserts for 650D as well as I'm a mod newbie.

I'm waiting for the 650D fan adapter fix to be delivered for that 200mm fan whining noise problem and currently have 2 120mm fans installed in the front. I don't know if I will be using a 200mm fan in the front as there doesn't seem to be a good support for 200mm fans currently (the only better alternative is the coolermaster megaflow fans).

Would I be able to fit a 120 or better yet a 140mm radiator on the bottom of the 650D next to the PSU? I only need room for 1 2.5" SSD and 2 3.5" HDDs so I could take the bottom HDD cage out couldn't I?
And is it possible to take the top 4 5.25 HDD cage out? Because that way you could fit a bigger radiator at the top?

TTL did a nice rushed review of the 650D:

I'm psyched to get mine when I build my Z68 rig this summer.

120,140mm radiators are no problems at the bottom. You can even fit a 240mm radiator at the bottom if you remove the bottom HDD cage. You can also remove the top HDD cage or both and fit radiators on the front grill too.

As for the top 5.25 inch drive bays, the very top one is dedicated to the IO connections so you can't remove that unless you are into modding. So on the top the largest you can fit is the 240mm rad. Other then the very top 5.25inch bays, the 4 bays below that are removable.

It seemed like he was really happy with the changes you made and how you responded to the critiques of the reviewing community and users alike. Good job. I can't wait to get my hands on one.

Also, is he right in saying that a 50mm thick 240mm rad will fit in the top of the case? I may go water next summer and I would like to know what will fit up top.

Depends a lot on the motherboard and thickness of the fans.

It does depend on the motherboard and the RAM intrusion but you will have a tough time fitting thick radiators at the top generally. You will be able to fit slim radiators like RS240 and EK coolstream 240 etc. though. I wasn't able to mount my RX240 on in my 650D with a ASUS P8P67 motherboard in the normal way so I had to give it a little tweak to fit it in at the top.
