Lol, I've thought about that but then how to get it in the house and into my system? One can only ninja around so much. wink.gif

This weekend I should be able to install the TY-150 on the HDD cage. I'll post pics of the wind tunnel afterward. thumb.gif

Yep. Some of the air will flow up towards my CPU cooler as well. It's been done by a couple others in this thread. I'm pretty sure I'm using the largest fan so far. biggrin.gif

Is that BitFenix really better then the stock 200mm ? I keep mine at roughly 450-500RPM. It's silent at that speed and my HDD is cool. I'm not interested in going any higher since I know that anything just can't be silent at higher RPM. But does that BitFenix move any more air then the stock fan at roughly 500RPM ?

i haven't had the chance to use the stock fans for too long but the bitfenix when toned down does not move a lot of air for me. at 5v it doesnt move any air at all and makes a slight motor whine. 7v moves some air but the slight motor whine is still there.

Yes it does. With the front mesh removed it's even quieter. I say consider removing your front mesh if you are looking for more airflow with less noise and don't mind the stock fan. I run my Spectro Pro at 12v and all I hear is the air whooshing through my case with no additional motor noise/whine. When I had it connected to the stock fan controller on the lowest setting it was very quiet with no annoying motor/whine noise. thumb.gif The only thing I noticed in the first couple days was an intermittent pulsating chirp-like sound that went away shortly after and never came back. Sorry it's difficult to describe but like I said it stopped after a couple days. thumb.gif

I'll let you know if it made any difference for my temps. A lot of people here have recommended it, so I gave it a try. Honestly, I don't think it's more silent than the stock 200mm fans; I'd say they are the same.

- I moved my SSD and HDD into the 5.25" drive bay
- Cut out the front grill using a diagonal plier (yes a diagonal plier, not a nibbler smile.gif )

Some shots:
n1b6gl.jpg
jzgy87.jpg
dvro04.jpg
65zo0z.jpg
21ozr4y.jpg

The edges are rough, but once I get some new hardware, I'll take care of that. I also need my dad to get some tools from work to be able to do that.

Next, I'll be working on my cables. I got black and red, but I think black and white, with a little bit red will look very nice!

EDIT: and this is my front mesh, well whatever is left of it. The cut isn't as clean as with a nibbler, but hey it gets the job done smile.gif

I did cut out my mesh, this is my rig;

http://www.overclock.net/t/907643/corsair-obsidian-650d-mid-tower/3020#post_17053771

It made a tiny difference, as I said, I run my fan at very low (silent) speed. So cutting the mesh didn't make a huge difference as it would if I ran it at 700-800RPM.

Nethermir, sorry to hear about that whining ...and too bad if that fan isn't somewhat better then the original one.

Sevada88, Thanks, let me know if that fan does seem any better to you.
