Thanks! I couldn't believe the temp difference. My GPU temps are now under 60c while running Boinc WUs. This was the main reason behind the HDD fan. It gets really hot on my apartment over the summer months.

Do you see a temp difference in removing those PCI expansion slot cover thingie-majigies in the back of the case and also no 120mm exhaust?

Positive flow needs no silly exhaust fans. Check out the Positive Airflow Cooling item in my sig for more info. biggrin.gif I can feel a good amount of air blowing out the entire back pane. Note that my GPUs heatsink dumps all the hot air into the case. Removing the PCI slot covers helps more air exit the case before it has a chance to reach the CPU heatsink. The TY-150 on the HDD cage made all the difference. The GPU now has noticeably better cooling and the SA gets some additional cool air as well. Your GPUs exhaust out the back pane and may not benefit as much but I say it's worth a try. Especially since it would only take a few minutes to test. I would try it with the side mesh and window as well.

Just need to mount the HDD cage on the aft mounting point, may throw a fan ontop of it.

New to crossfire, so here's a random question...Is it normal to have ~13 degree difference between GPU's if running one at x16 and one at x4?
I swapped them around and the x4 is always the cooler one. (i know the lower will be slightly cooler but not ~13degrees)

Hey guys, I had a quick question about the airflow. I went from an 800d to a 650d, because I heard that 650d is better for aircooling, but after switching cases, I played some BF3 and I noticed that my GTX 580 was running a lot warmer in the 650d than the 800d. (about 7c warmer) Anyone know what I should do? My 580 hit 74c - 76c in the 800d and now its hitting 81c in the 650d.

I already swapped the case fans with Bitfenix Spectre Pros and I'm using a Corsair H100 for my cpu. I have it set to exhaust and I tried setting it to intake but the card was still running warmer than the 800d. I really want to keep the 650d, but I don't want to keep it if my temps are higher. tongue.gif

I'd say we need more input^^

- HDD configuration (cage moved?)
- what kind of 580 (DHE (ref.) or other)
- fans
- H100 intake/exhaust

example (my build, schematic):

457

blue = cool air in
red = way of hot air

... and the real thing

I have a 200mm Spectre Pro in the front as intake, and my H100 is set up as an exhaust with the stock fans. I'm also using a reference 580 from EVGA, which is not overclocked and I replaced the tim that came with it. I also removed the top hard drive cage and moved the other one towards the psu.The psu is also facing down, so the fan is not pointing up towards the gpu. I also replaced the back fan with a 120mm Spectre Pro, which I have set to exhaust. All the fans are connected to the 650d's fan controller, with the exception of the H100 fans. Those are connected to the H100. I don't have any fans mounted to the side panel since I'm using the default one with the window.

Seems to me your 580 doesn't get enough air to 'breeze'

- front fan is ok (intake), but you may have to cut out the mesh (plenty of pic's on this topic)
- if that doesn't get you where you want -> zip a 120/140 fan right on top of your HDD Cage (may be a 'focus flow' fan like the air penetrator or Noctua NF-F)

Right, so my case is now empty (still contemplating about cutting out the front mesh) and my hardware is now stting text to me, running.
