Corsair Obsidian 650D Mid-Tower - Page 367

Ok so I have a question
Warning: Noob question! (Click to show)
When putting the mesh pieces in the 5.25" bays (like the 600T ones) how does one attatch it? And is there much modding required?

I think it's a great look but a little nervous about doing it.

The mod I did required dremeling the front grill I list below. It fits in the HDD bays perfectly, you just need to make sure it is cropped according to the configuration you need. For example, I chose just to have one top 5.25" bay cover and the rest the grill. So getting it cropped for that was key. It kinda just pops in and stays.

I needed a dremel to cut the front mesh bay cover. The Xigmatek installed perfectly fine without any mods, as you stated. I just decided for the front mesh I listed above instead of the bay covers you chose.

Yours just stays in? Did you make it tight fitting on the height? I had to put a small magnet under my dvd drive to hold the mesh in at the top.

Yup, I just made it tight fitting and it works.

ahh i see what you did there, my ingenious self didn't read it properly. sorry about that bud.

On a side note for all you 650d guys. i removed both HDD Cages completely. I can't sell anything on the FS thread, and I'm not selling technically, But if anyone needs them, Pay the shipping, and tipping is optional... but i'd rather hand them over to you guys then just trash em.

Pm me if you want em. i also have both OEM 200mm fans if anyone wants em.... and the 120.... and the xigmatec 120mm. again, you pay the shipping, i'll send it to ya. better than trashing them. ``

Thinking of picking up this case but all this talk of front fan noise is making me think twice. Is there any way to eliminate the noise without resorting to cutting off the front grill?

I didnt cut it out on mine. I just changed from the stock Corsair fan to a BitFenix 200mm fan and the noise that I notice that comes from my system is actually the fans from my Sapphire Graphics cards.

Others have had an issue with the fan noise but honestly it seems pretty minor. It's just from air turbulence with air passing through the mesh

As said here, the noise is very minor, but definitely swap the front fan. Don't let this put you off a great case.

All this that we're saying is 100% tested and proved. We all love this case even its little oddities biggrin.gif

Don't pass on an excellent case just because a few of us have not found a way to fight this little issue effectively.
