Corsair Obsidian 650D Mid-Tower - Page 387

Thanks to a great deal on eBay i've got a 650D on the way to my house.
I've also bought 2 Corsair SP120 fans for my H100 and a AF120 fan for the back fan mount in the case.
What's the best configuration to have these fans in?
I'm currently thinking of having the front fan as a intake, the H100 fans as a exhaust and the AF120 as a exhaust.

Quite a few people in this thread have also replaced the front 200mm fan.
I've found this fan - http://specialtech.co.uk/spshop/customer/Bitfenix-200-x-200-x-20mm-Spectre-Non-LED-Black-Quiet-Case-Fan--BFF-SCF-20020KK-RP-pid-12804.html
and this one - http://specialtech.co.uk/spshop/customer/Bitfenix-200-x-200-x-25mm-Spectre-PRO-Non-LED-Black-Case-Fan--BFF-SPRO-20025KK-RP-pid-14836.html

Compared to the 2nd one the 1st one is quieter (19db vs 27.5db) but it produces less airflow (65CFM vs 148CFM). Would i notice the difference in noise level, i want my PC to be as quiet as possible.

Most people here (myself included) have gone with the Spectre Pro because of the superior airlflow it produces. thumb.gif
Edit fan config sounds good, I have mine set up exactly the same way.
also funny you link to Specialtech, I got mine there as well biggrin.gif

I ended up going with the Spectre Pro.
The case arrived today, just waiting for my fans to come and some cable ties to keep my non modular PSU tidy biggrin.gif

Anyone know where to get the Mesh Panel Insert for the 650D in Canada (in Toronto). I searched NCIX and Canada Computers but I don't think they have it. If I order from Corsair directly the shipping would cost more then the mesh it self.

I finally got my rig built and have been putting it through its paces for the last week. I could not be more please with the performance of everything, including the case. I am using the stock fan controller for now, but I plan on getting a Lamptron soon. I switched out the rear exhaust 120mm fan for a Noctua, but left the stock 200 mm fans on the front intake and top exhaust. The soulnd from the stock fans are not nearly as bad as I expected after reading this thread, even on the highest setting. I added a second 120 mm fan on top of the hard drive caddy to blow directly towards the video card(as I have noticed on several of the pics in this thread). I have the case sitting right next to me on the desk and I can handle the sound very easily, and that is with 6 fans going, including the graphics card fan. I still have plans to change out the 200mm fans for blue LED Spectre Pros to get a little light going through the side window. Thanks to everybody that contributed to this thread.

The AF120 fan and the 200mm Spectro PRO fan came today. I've got them installed and will install the rest of my components tommorow.
Because i only have 3 hard drives i am looking at just using one hard drive cage mounted to the PSU, which screws do i need to use to keep it in place?
Also does anyone have any cable management tips for the IO panel cables.

I'm pretty sure you mean to mount the cage in the middle of the case right?
Like this? (Click to show)

Use the two thumb screws that you removed from the cages when they were in the default position in the front of the case. They screw in on the left bottom side. There are little grooves where the cage slides into place. Cable management is a bear and you may want to consider some custom left angle SATA power and data cables from performance-pcs to make things go easier. IO panel cables I routed around the edge of the back of the motherboard tray and used lots of zipties to keep everything flat. I hope that all makes sense...I'm really tired atm, lol. thumb.gif

Hey Rec, I think what I did with my cable management was route it all around the back edge of the motherboard like Sol did. I know that there is a small cutout on the backside of the 5.25" bays and I managed to get some of the cabling through there so I could keep it out of the way. Just take a gander at many of the systems here and get a general idea, not many of post pics or our cable management in the back but I may be able to take one if you want a better idea. just let me know. ;D

Hey Sol, quick question..... do you leave your case open all the time? I like the removal of the rear grill and the front like you have done but I'm curious if you leave the case open lol..... also how loud is that Silver Arrow?
