I wouldn't limit your search to just newegg. Try other places like FrozenCPU or PerformancePCs. You can always get a few mesh 5.25 covers and mount whatever fan in the 5.25 bay with foam, zip ties or whatever works. thumb.gif

I removed the front and rear mesh as well as the PCI slot covers. Dropped my temps a few more degrees C and that's also without an exhaust fan...I do have a mid-case fan which dramatically lower my GPU temps.

I got mine from Scan in the UK. They have a variety of mesh designs too.

Thanks a lot! I kind of want to see a board with all the connectors being like the 24pin connector on this board, although i do kind of prefer the arch that the cables make with the standard connectors.

Nice setup, Markerx.
Quick question to all of you 650d owners.
I'm having slight issues with my positive pressure setup. Heat is being trapped due to my coolermaster megaflow 200mm not being able to push much from the front. When I remove the front duster filter, my temps drop 3-4 C. I'm mainly measuring the drop around my ssd and hd. Would it be advantageous cutting out the front honeycomb but still use the dust filter in the front?
I'd swap my top fan to exhaust but using my 140mm bgears in that manner has already fried one, and produces a clicking noise in the other (which makes no noise in an intake installation).
I've yet to cut anything on my case. Any advice on producing better airflow would be terrific (without breaking the bank).
Cut out the honeycomb in the front? Cut the honeycomb in the back? New fans all around? Forget positive pressure?
Thanks.
edit: I love Faulkerton's setup, and I've also seen the post about trying to make the 650d a positive pressure setup. I haven't been able to find any 5.25 bay mods on newegg that would help. So, I'm not sure if his setup is the solution I'm looking for.

I'm actually running a positive pressure setup, my h100 fans are on intake and the only exhaust i have is the 120mm at the back, if you're interested i can tell you the system temps.

I also bought aftermarket filters and put them on the top and in the front.

I think that a positive pressure setup will work good for me because i have the case on the top of my desk.

I will say that positive air pressure is certainly a better way to go....just make sure that you have filters for all the dust you are about to inhale into your system.

BTW as a totally unrelated side note, I had to change my avatar to something a little more fun than Day9. I'll be impressed by how many people actually remember what it's from smile.gifthumb.gif
