Corsair Obsidian 650D Mid-Tower - Page 83

If you do the drive gace mod you can fit any 30mm thick 200mm fan in the front. I'm using a 200mm NZXT fan in my 600T.

Look at the picture immediately above your post. It shows the side panel flush.

The picture above my post shows only the back side. Also its really hard to tell in pictures because of reflections.

I will look into that. Any links on that mod?
EDIT: I think you meant the drive "cage" mod --do you just mean moving the cage back towards the PSU (I don't have good clearance for that) or is there a way to modify the cage or cage mount while it is still in forward position?

I have read some debates about the way measurements have been taken on some fans, and rumors based on that that suggest Bitfenix's 230mm Spectre would fit. I had wondered if anyone had tried it.

Bitfenix's 200mm Spectre fan provides considerably less airflow than the 230mm, so I wouldn't go that route at this point.

Hey guys, I need some help as I wait my fans to come (some AC Sharks 120&140 and a CM Megaflow).
What tools do I need to do the mod so the megaflow fits without moving the cage?Is it better with the cage close to the psu so more air can get in the case or I should mod it and put it in front of the fan so the HDDs remain cooler?
I'll post some pics in the week, when my order arrive..

On the front vertical edge of the drive cage is a "curl". If you cut the curl off, you can mount a 30mm wide fan on the front and the drive cage will still slide into place. On my 600T, the top two mounting holes on the NXZT fan lines up with two of the mesh holes. I didn't screw the bottom at all because when you slide the drive cage in, it presses the fan against the front of the case perfectly. I have pictures if you want them. A little paint, permanent marker or electrical tape will disguise the cut.

It's something you'll have to decide yourself. I left my drive cage up front, but then I cut a hole in the bottom of my case and added another 120mm intake fan. If you move it toward the back you will get better airflow from the front 200mm fan. If you don't want to do any mods and still want to mount a 30mm thick fan at the front, then that's your best option.

Would love to see the pics, thanks.

I have a Dremel and some fiberglass cutoff wheels that should do the job without issue. Being the picky person I am, I'll probably pick up some Testors black model paint at the store to touch it back up after I cut it and sand things smooth.
