Overclocking question

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I'm new to this forum and overclocking.

I have a question about the voltage I need to get to 3.8GHz. I have the AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE, and I have seen some people saying they can get to 3.8GHz with stock voltage.

Whenever I try to get to 3.8GHz, I have to up the voltage a whole lot. If I run Prime95 with anything less than 1.46 volts, I get a BSOD within 5 seconds. I don't understand why I have to put the voltage so high.

I have also noticed the voltage changes while I am running prime95. It goes from 1.456 with little to no load, and switches between 1.472 and 1.488 at full load! Is this normal? I usually stop the test within 15 minutes because it reaches 61 degrees celsius!

My NB FID is x10 at 2000MHz. SB Voltage is 1.2. My ram is at 1333MHz at stock 1.60V (Stock I believe).

Any ideas why I need the voltage so high?
If you need more information, I would be happy to tell you. Please help me lower the voltages while staying at 3.8GHz.

Thanks!

Cpu-Z says RB-C2.

Ok, I will try that.

Disable C1E and Cool'n'Quite on BIOS. The C2 revision isn't a very good overclocker version, so, you will need a lot of work and voltage to get the rig stable.

I disabled cool and quiet, c1e was already disabled. I can't see anything about setting NB and SB to auto. The only thing I can think of is turning off voltage function.

Ok, don't change anything on NB and SB. Test 1st with rig at 3600MHz at stock voltage.

I tested at stock voltage(1.4 volts) at 3.6GHz for about five minutes. It's not long, I know but for some reason worker number one stopped.
It says: FATAL ERROR : rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4. Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file.
I don't see a stress.txt file in the folder prime95 is in.

What's this? On the bright side, it only got to 49 degrees .
