for you people with AD700's

Thread Starter
i just found an interesting comfort mod for AD700's that i used on my headphones. it involves cutting about a 1ft piece of RG6 ( tv cable) and inserting it inside of the earcups. this has made my ad700's feel 10x better than they have before.

here is the link to the persons thread http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/...nd-comfort-mod

Skeptical. If they become even more comfortable than they are now, won't they melt?

Seriously, though, I think they're comfortable enough. They fit my head near-perfectly.

Interesting. The AD700s are definitely the most comfortable headphones I've worn, but the weakness is definitely the fact that it's not circumaural and it sits on your ears.

You should try wearing the HD650s sometimes, it feels like your skull is about to get crushed.

I have a hard time imagining that anything can be 10 times more comfortable than the stock AD700

Does this change the sound?

Melt? Well then wouldn't your ear melt? No, so why would the cable?

I did that mod about 5 min after tring them the 1st time. Makes them fit so much better, i do think that they now sound better but that may be because they didnt fit my head properly. Took about 10 min to mod and wont go back.

So I went ahead and shoved some foam in under the earpads. It's a 2 minute mod, just cut a couple of strips of foam and shove them in, if foam is easily accessible tyo anybody then they have no excuse at all not to try it. It makes them different, not really more or less comfortable for me. If you don't like how they fit, you can always revert. Not sure about sound changing yet, but the soundstage seems to have improved.

Most importantly, the headphones did not melt.
