Will using SD card Adapter Slow Performance?

Thread Starter
I'm wondering if using something like a SD card adapter on something like a class 6 or class 10 SD card will slow performance or read/write speeds?

I'm low on SD cards. but I do have a spare 16GB Micro SD Class 10 card. I was going to use it, in the adapter and put it inside my Nikon D5000 camera and capture some HD video and take pictures at CES tomorrow.

Will using the Adapter slow performance, or no because all that does is transfer the metal connections to a larger surface?

Most adapters (including micro SD to SD and mini SD to SD) are just to make the pins fit and has no circuit internally. No different than an old 2.5" PATA to 3.5" PATA adapter.

You should be ok using adapter provided your camera can support higher class SD.
