Question on moving from T-Mobile to an existing line on parent's Verizon plan

To make a long story short, I can't afford paying $75/mo for data/texting and 500 minutes on my T-Mobile plan with my G1.

My mother currently has a Verizon plan, with my step-father having a Droid on one line (unlimited data, unlimited texting), and she has a LG Dare. There's an unused line as well with an existing number that currently has no use.

I figured I would just hop onto her plan considering that she has that unused line. All I would need is a phone.

Question: Would I be able to go to the Verizon store with her once my billing cycle ends (I pay month-by-month) and have them switch the number that the existing line on her plan currently has, to my existing one from T-Mobile?

Second question: My mother is currently due for a free upgrade on her phone, which she has no desire to use. She said that if Verizon will let her, that she'll get the upgrade to a Droid 2 and give it to me to use on the extra line, keeping her LG Dare. Is this possible as well?

In the end I'd just pay her the $15/mo extra it costs them to keep that line open. Thanks for any clarification you guys can give!

You might have issues porting your number if the unused line currently has a number assigned to it. Otherwise, it sounds doable. But hurry up - Verizon is radically changing how New Every Two works on January 16th (see: http://www.ubergizmo.com/2011/01/ver...y-two-program/). Just go into the Verizon store and have them do their thing. For what they charge, they usually (with enough goading) give customers what they ask for.

Thanks for the heads up . Looks like I have until the Sunday-after-next to get this done. I think that's plenty of time. Will probably take care of it mid-week next week. Cheers!
