I rather trust my console made by micorsoft, and if you didnt notice, microsoft is the world's leading software corporation and literally rules like 85% of the computer world! While sony, though makes great TVs, and ONLY great TVs, now is stuck with the responsibility in making kickass calculators and toasters!
But trusting a manufacturer on their software past has nothing to do with hardware the Ps3 failure rate is low while the 360 failure rate is still high, I use to own all the nextgen consoles and be all about 360, till I had my 360 RROD every month for 4 months so 4 360 consoles later I discovered that my PS3 does more than blurays for me :F and have never looked back. My wii on the other hand I played that beast for like a week and sold it, prolly should have left it @ the store. Controls are a matter of preference, and I trust a video industry leader who's been in the business in console development longer than M$. Also Microsoft lost all their big name contracts like Halo and Mass Effect there's almost nothing left for them.

No matter your choice it doesn't matter regardless of what we all think it's what you want, ask your friends what they play get what they have that way you can play online with them if thats your interest.

Btw my PS3 is the only console I own now, and I own 2 just recently got a 2nd one ^_^

just get both like I did.

In the end it all comes down to what console exclusives you're likely to play. I got a PS3 for GT5 and most of my friends have PS3s.
I voted PS3 because, well, to put it simply... I would use the blu-ray alot. I got one as a gift and didnt think I'd like console that much 'til I had one. I find the controller more intuitive than the 360.

So really, try them both out, see which is most comfortable. Then see which your buds have.

And whoever says lobbies are empty on PS3 is full of it. Ive even played quake wars with no trouble and that's a pretty old game for PS3. Uncharted 2 is amazing, absolutely love it.

Sports games are not my forte, but racing is definitely in for me, and once again I prefer PS3.

The only other reason I'd say PS3 is in general you get better graphics: but not everyone is all about graphics.

Sorta hard to tell you what to choose when it is entirely subjective, so my recommendations are: choose what you think you'll use more/has better games/more comfortable controller/more friends have. And I'll throw in a side comment saying I prefer PS3 for a few reasons, only wish it wasn't made by Sony because I hate Sony.

Xbox 360
you can install games on hard drive and games load faster.
controller feels more solid and has a little feeling to it
Espn
have to pay to play online
has kinect: if you like games that makes you stand up and move your body instead of relaxing.

PS3
has a wand so if you are harry potter fan you are gonna love it
only some games load from hard drive so loading time it more
exclusive games like Uncharted 2 and God of war
Controllers are light weight so feels like a feather
Free to play online
Has Netflix like Xbox 360

PC
You can do everything above and do school work as well as other stuff.

- Ridge Racer 7
- Formula One: Championship Edition

The only difference between Xbox Live and PSN is: XBL you have to pay for yet they still throw ads at you. PSN is completely free and ad free. They both work the same.
Not to argue, but since when can you do party chat with as many friends as you want, when you aren't on the same game, inside the same game lobby on PSN.

To the OP; I have Xbox 360, a Gaming PC, a PS3 and a Wii.

PC > Xbox > PS3 > Wii

The Xbox has great exclusives actually, RPG games like Fable 2&3, some of the highest rated shooting games around; Halo 3, Halo3:ODST, Halo Reach are all exclusive to the Xbox 360. Xbox live is much better than PSN - sure you have to pay for it, but answer yourself my question; what would you rather pay for here?

Xbox 360 + One Year Live Subscription, 250GB Hard Drive, 2 Games, 2 Controllers - $490

PS3 320GB Console, No Games - $600

The Xbox has an extra controller, 2 free games and better online features.

If you want web browser use your PC, like you are now - it's really bad on PS3 anyway.

I think I count as a real unbias vote because I have the best PS3 version (60GB, best model for many reasons) and an average xbox 360.

Yeah it's high but if it happens you get a brand new Xbox free, if you messed up your console and it was your fault you can pay a small fee or fix it yourself in 5 minutes.

I got another xbox 360 for fixing somebody's PC, fixed it up with a screwdriver set and a bit of thermal paste in maybe 5 minutes.

Get Both lol. I bought a broken Xbox for 55 dollars and fixed it, and a broken 60GB Backwards Compatible (rare) PS3 for 50 bucks. 105 dollars for close to 700 dollars worth of hardware. Me gusta.
