Noob Overclock prep question (first timer)

Thread Starter
Ok, so I'm getting ready to upgrade my rig here at the end of the week. Currently have.

Thermaltake mid tower cheap PoS (don't remember the exact name)
i7 920 cpu w/ A50 cpu fan
2x ATI 5770's in crossfire
850w psu
6gb RAM generic (mushkin? dunno, bought it while I was in Japan building the computer originally...yes, its all Japanese parts except for my cpu fan lol)
Asus P6T mobo

In the mail:

Corsair 800D full tower
Asus Rampage III Extreme

and I just picked up a H50 (this will be my first liquid cooling attempt).

So those three items will be replacing old tower, cpu cooler and mobo this saturday (can't wait!).

Now, I do have a aerocool 2000 touch for my current rig. But, what I would like to know, before I attempt an overclock (will not be until summer time when I make a few more upgrades) is will I have a problem with my aerocool getting attatched the the H50? My understanding is it hooked up via fan speed controller, does this come into play at all during installation? or should I simply omit that installation step. Secondly, I don't have any thermal tape, and don't feel like making another order on newegg or amazon anytime soon. Will electrical tape work just as well for mounting the heat sensors?

P.S.

Just for the record, I plan on upgrading to 12gb 1666 RAM in the near future. Then GPU and CPU, but holding out to see if nvidia will make a comeback as I'm having issues with my ATI cards. Had to download a driver from friggin June 2010 to get the FPS to go higher than 15 on full load in WoW. Once I had the old driver on everything from WoW to Black Ops runs smooth as silk, but makes my computer crash on occasion. And waiting on intel to come out with more hexacore i7 processors that are more reasonably priced than the 980x.

Also, any further advice for getting ready to overclock in the future. I don't plan on doing it until the summer time when I have made desired upgrades to my rig.

Thanks
Redrum

before overclocking id make sure you know:
1: how to reset your Bios in case you lock your board up.
2: the max safe voltage for your processor and all motherboard parts as well as ram
3: the max safe thermal margin for your processor
4: any settings to be aware of with i7's

if you dont have thermal tape just use thermal compound and jam it some where. if you are sticking it to the cpu, a good place to put a thermal probe is under the socket clamp. parts like graphics would be on the heat pipes if it has them.

your fan controller will control your pump if thats what you want. just treat it as a normal fan.

i also dont believe intel will be making any new processors on the 1366 socket since they have just released sandy bridge which is on a brand new socket 1155. unfortunately it seems the 1366 was short lived.
