NZXT Phantom Window Alternative - Page 2

I was just about to post asking if anybody thought about doing a side window mode in this case just like you did.

I'm thinking of buying this case after I sell my Antec 1200 even though I'm still not sure if giving up Antec's awesome air flow is a good idea. But I love this case.

edit: un wait I just saw that you did... no window, uh still looks really good though I would like a Window instead

actually the phantom has very good air flow. It can be a negative pressure case if you set it up wrong, but other then having a little bit of dust, it has awesome air flow.

the difference between my rad being on an open desk and being inside my case is about 1 - 2 c at most.

I had an antec 1200 mate just upgraded to a phantom and im not looking back biggrin.gif The case is fab and there air flow is also great, my temps are no different to that of my 1200 which imo is the best airflow case out there

@JoePhoto

Well, Newegg had the Phantom on sale the other day, so I jumped for it.

They say that imitation is the greatest form of flattery, so take it as a complement when I say that I performed this same mod to the side panel.

I ordered the case in black, however, not white. It looks great, just as your's does. I've got some 12'' blue cathodes coming in soon, so I can't wait to see what it looks like then. I'll put some pics up when it gets here.

Quick question... I assume by the pictures that you made your cuts in order to maintain the small slots that hold the mesh in place? One other question about airflow... How well do you think it would work to have all of my fans set as intake and the exhaust going out of that open mesh (I want to do the exact same mod to mine) TIA smile.gif Keep up the great work
post #18 of 25
I like your mod... I was going to go with the phantom but ended up with the HAF 932 because of its window... and because of its airflow... and because it had all the fans installed already... though I am still adding more to it... well to my radiator that is... lol... now all I need is another CD burner and 2 fan controllers to regulate those scythe fans... but mad props to your build it looks much better tbh...

Thanks guys, airflow is just fine with the top/rear exhaust and the front/side intakes.

Hey you guys,

It's been a while, but I was slowed down greatly by the SB recalls. The build's done and beautiful. I defer to JoePhoto on his awesome cable management, but his window technique and 3 twelve inch blue cathodes really look pleasing.

Enjoy the pics, taken quickly using my DSLR and a tripod, ISO 100. (except the daytime exterior shot)

I second the comments about airflow, more than adequate with the stock fans, no side fan, and my Ultra Kaze (rear fan) on low speed.

When doing the mod, yes, you cut so that the slits for the mesh remain. During the un-bending/re-bending of the mesh, about half the tabs broke off, but the panel was still held in place securely.
